While most people use shea butter as a valuable food oil, a few women and men began rubbing it into their skin at night to soften the skin and protect against the drying action of the harsh climate. From Northern Ghana, this is completely natural, unrefined "raw" shea butter. It is extremely organic, but does not carry NOP organic certification. This shea butter was produced under the direct supervision of Dr. Lovett PhD., and was processed in the villages of Northern Ghana in a manner that gives the shea butter extra long shelf life.

Shea butter is made from the nut of the Shea tree of Central America. It has an elegant feel, spreads smoothly, and absorbs remarkably well. For a rich nut butter it is surprisingly nongreasy. It is well tolorated by skin prone to allergic reactions and can be used on sensitive skin areas such as mucousmembranes as well as around the eyes.
