This is a relic of World War Two. Meshna Electronics, my dad's company, defunked since 1988 or so, sold every kind of electronic gadget known to man at one time or another. Some of that stuff was World War II surplus. This is one of a few items I kept from the warehouse for some reason.
My dad always referred to these as Tank Scopes. I think he was referring to the scope's incredibly rugged construction and heft (It appears to be solid brass and bronze). It's US NAVY issue and I've seen these in movies in the fire control area on battleships. It is the site they used for range finding.
One knob controls the filters. They are Ultraviolet, Yellow, Red, Magenta and Clear(UV). The other knob controls Density. The focus is a ring around the eye piece. Not sure of the magnification, although it seems to be very good. On the backside you see a small opening with a screw/clamp devide on it. It appears to be a place where you could mount a light devide, maybe for night vision, I'm not sure. There's a little lens at the bottom of the hole that lets light into the scope.
If you're a world War II buff or you like unique optics, this is a totally cool item. You can have it for $69.00.
Shipping weight is 20 pounds. We'll wrap it good.
